Prof. Mieczysław Litwin, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Nephrology, Kidney Transplantation and Hypertension at the CMHI, has won the prestigious Detlev Ganten Excellence Award in Basic Research in Hypertension, granted by the World Hypertension League (WHL) – an organisation working for the global prevention and control of hypertension, in institutional cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The award is given to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to research on the pathogenesis of hypertension.
Prof. Litwin is the only scientist from Poland to have received this most important distinction in hypertensiology. The WHL award is a wonderful recognition of the scientist’s work and invaluable promotion of the Children’s Memorial Health Institute on the international stage.
