The Children’s Memorial Health Institute (CMHI) conducts its scientific activities based on its clinical activities. The clinical structure of the Institute includes:
- 22 hospital wards,
- 32 specialized clinics,
- 9 diagnostic facilities,
- an operating theater with 10 rooms
- 608 hospital beds available
In 2025, CMHI (IPCZD) provided 95,492 hospitalizations (including 70,050 one-day hospitalizations) and 204,605 specialist outpatient consultations, covering all areas of pediatric medicine except hematology and orthopedics. The Institute admits patients from across Poland, approximately 50% of whom come from the Mazovian Voivodeship. In the same year, 13,541 procedures under general anesthesia and 7,645 surgical operations were performed. In terms of kidney and liver transplantation, the Institute is one of the three largest centers in Europe.
The Institute has got a scientific category A and HR Logo certificate. It is an active member of 7 ERN’s (European Rare Desease Networks):

- RARE-LIVER,
- RITA.
The CMHI employs 76 researchers, including positions of Institute Prof. and Prof. (31 people), Assistant Prof. (21 people) and Research Assistant (24 people). The institute employs 6 research and technical staff members. Annually, about 300 scientific publications are being prepared, more than half of which are published in high-impact scientific journals.
The Institute carries out projects financed by subsidies from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, external domestic funds (NCN, NCBiR, ABM) and EU funds.

CMHI, as a hospital and a research unit with the highest level of reference in Poland, is a leader in conducting modern clinical trials (BK) in the paediatric population. The Minister of Health appointed CMHI as the coordinator of the Polish Network of Clinical Trials in Pediatrics (POLPEDNET).
The CMHI conducts approximately 89 commercial clinical and observational studies each year. The Institute is currently participating in 7 non-commercial clinical trials funded by ABM, with the following acronyms: DIPGen, VIRAP, RaRE-TS, VEDi-UC, MEDWAY, pedDUET-CD (preparatory work is underway to submit the trial to CTIS), mitBrain (preparatory work is underway to submit the study to CTIS). Researchers at CMHI are experts recognized by the pharmaceutical industry as key opinion leaders.
Thanks to funding from ABM, was established Pediatric Clinical Trials Support Center (PCTSC), in order to comprehensively support the conduct of clinical research at the Institute. To implement the NCT, PCTSC acts as an ACRO, acting on behalf of the sponsor, and its staff (PCTSC Manager, PCTSC Specialist for Quality, Pharmacovigilance, Monitoring, Study Coordination) supervise the work of the people hired specifically for each project, among others, CTA, Pharmacovigilance, data manager, monitor, site coordinator).
Currently, the CMHI is implementing a Pediatric Regional Digital Medicine Center with a biobank.
