Students at CMHI

On 19th and 20th November 2024, we hosted students from grades II and III of the Highschool under the name of Janusz Korczak in Warsaw.

The students visited the Hospital Pharmacy, the Pathomorphology Laboratory and the Paediatric Oncogenetics Laboratory. They participated in presentations:

  • Science fiction in medicine, by Dr Aleksander Wiśniewski; Research Department
  • AntiSepsis project – „The impact of target-directed dosing based on the clinical pharmacokinetics model of antimicrobial drugs on the clinical outcome and quality of life of children and newborns – an analysis of safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness” by Agnieszka Czajkowska, MSc, and Dr Arkadiusz Kocur; Monitored Therapy, Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Toxicology Laboratory
  • LITTLER project – „A randomised, two-centre, open-label research experiment comparing the use of laser thermoablation with classic neurosurgical treatment in the treatment of focal intracranial lesions in eloquent areas in paediatric patients” by Magdalena Mlostek, PhD; Neurosurgery Clinic
  • The nursing profession in the Operating Theatre Team by Anna Nagadowska, MSc; Deputy Director of Nursing

The information was presented in a visual manner and enriched by visits to workplaces. We were delighted to see the students’ enthusiasm. We hope that the knowledge they gained will stay with them for a long time.

Furthermore, we realise that educating young people is not only about conveying dry facts, but also about inspiring and stimulating their imagination. Visits to real workplaces give participants the opportunity to see how theory translates into practice, and direct contact with a professional environment gives them an insight into the daily challenges and responsibilities of these professions. Perhaps we have inspired them to choose their own future career path…
