  • professor of Anesthesiology & Intensive Care, Head of The Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute (CMHI) in Warsaw, which is the referral pediatric hospital for Poland
  • till the year 2014 he used to work in a similar department of the Maria Konopnicka University Hospital of the Medical University of Lodz

Qualifications and trainings:

  • spesialist in anesthesiology & intensive care and in neonatology
  • received training in neonatal intensive care at Royal London Hospital and  King’s College School of Medicine in London as well as Morgan Stanley Presbyterian Medical Center in New York  and at Department of Anesthesia of Boston Children’s Hospital
  • used to participate in multicenter international studies “RESOLVE” and “NUMAX”
  • published over 100 peer reviewed papers and over 20 medical book chapters, as well as one textbook about mechanical ventilation in neonates which has had 5 editions
  • past president of Paediatric Committee of the Polish Society of Anesthesiology & Intensive Care and the Committee of Anesthesiology & Intensive Care at Polish Academy of Sciences
  • promoter of 20 dissertations for a PhD degree
  • member of the Polish Neonatal Society and the editorial board of the journal “Anesthesiology Intensive Therapy” and “Pediatric Review” (Przegląd Pediatryczny)

Research interests:

  • main field of interest – mechanical support of ventilation (also during anaesthesia) – a topic of his PhD theses in 1989
  • later dissertation for an assistant/ professor degree in 1998
  • also interested in diagnosis and treatment of sepsis in children
