Research centre in Lublin supports innovative therapies for children with ulcerative colitis

We are pleased to announce the opening of a new research centre at the University Children’s Hospital in Lublin, which has joined the nationwide, non-commercial VEDI-UC clinical trial. The trial is sponsored by the Children’s Memorial Health Institute (CMHI) and funded by the Medical Research Agency.

The VEDI-UC study focuses on evaluating the safety and efficacy of modern biological therapies in children and adolescents with ulcerative colitis (UC) – a chronic inflammatory disease that significantly affects the quality of life of patients and their families. The VEDI-UC study focuses on modern biological therapies that can significantly improve disease control, reduce relapses and decrease the need for systemic medications.

The opening of the centre in Lublin will enable wider recruitment of patients from the region, increasing access to innovative treatment methods. The facility has been equipped with modern diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, ensuring the highest standards of safety and comfort. The research team consists of experienced paediatricians, paediatric gastroenterologists and qualified nursing staff working in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

The opening of the new centre is another step in the implementation of a nationwide project that not only supports the development of modern therapies for children with inflammatory bowel disease, but also contributes to expanding scientific knowledge and improving the quality of life of patients and their families. The Children’s Memorial Health Institute and the Medical Research Agency emphasise that participation in the VEDI-UC study is an opportunity to access innovative therapies in a safe, controlled clinical environment, as well as a real contribution to the development of paediatric medicine in Poland.
